Asymptotic Solution of the Turbulent Mixing Layer for Velocity Ratio Close to Unity

چکیده
The equations describing the rst two terms of an asymptotic expansion of the solution of the planar turbulent mixing layer for values of the velocity ratio close to one are obtained The rst term of this expansion is the solution of the well known time evolving problem and the second which includes the e ects of the increase of the turbulence scales in the stream wise direction obeys a linear system of equations Numerical solutions of these equations for a two dimensional reacting mixing layer show that the correction to the time evolving solution may explain the asymmetry of the entrainment and the di erences in product generation observed in ip experiments

A Novel Similarity Solution of Turbulent Boundary Layer Flow over a Flat Plate
In this paper, the similarity solution of turbulent boundary layer flow on the flat plate with zero pressure gradients is presented. By employing similarity variables the governing partial differential equations are transformed to ordinary ones with inconsistent coefficients and solved numerically with the use of Runge–Kutta and shooting methods in conjunction with trial and error procedure. Fo...
متن کاملUnsteady Flamelet Modeling of Differential Diffusion in Turbulent Jet Diffusion Flames
An unsteady flamelet model, which will be called the Lagrangian Flamelet Model, has been applied to a steady, turbulent CH4/H2/N2–air diffusion flame. The results have been shown to be in reasonable agreement with experimental data for axial velocity, mixture fraction, species mass fractions, and temperature. The application of three different chemical mechanisms leads to the promising conclusi...
متن کاملTowards an Analytical Model for Film Cooling Prediction using Integral Turbulent Boundary layer
The objective of this work is to develop deep theoretical methods that are based on the solution of the integral boundary layer equations for investigating film cooling in liquid rocket engine. The integral model assumes that heat is transferred from hot free stream gas to the liquid film both by convection and radiation. The mass is transferred to the free srteam gas by the well-known blowing ...
متن کاملBranched-chain ignition in strained mixing layers
The time-dependent evolution of the radical pool in an initially inert hydrogen-air counterflow mixing layer subject to variable strain is investigated analytically. Although the initial chemistry description contains three different chain carriers, namely, H, O and OH, it is shown that the ignition problem can be accurately described in terms of a single radical-pool variable that incorporates...
متن کاملSufficient condition for Gaussian departure in turbulence.
The interaction of two isotropic turbulent fields of equal integral scale but different kinetic energy generates the simplest kind of inhomogeneous turbulent field. In this paper we present a numerical experiment where two time decaying isotropic fields of kinetic energies E1 and E2 initially match over a narrow region. Within this region the kinetic energy varies as a hyperbolic tangent. The f...
